Report: Leeds to beat Spurs to the signing of highly-rated Irish midfielder

Tottenham Hotspur are set to lose out on the signing of Irish starlet Charlie Allen to Leeds United, according to a report by Football Insider.

Tottenham’s transfer strategy this summer is said to be to prioritise up and coming young talents over established stars with the North Londoners said to be cautious following the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

Spurs have been linked with other teenage talents including the likes of Stoke’s Mohamed Sankoh (Football Insider), Sunderland’s Joe Hugill (The Sun) and Celtic’s Josh Adam (Daily Mail).

Spurs were said to have already held talks with Allen after he completed a trial with the club last year (Football Insider).

However, Football Insider now claim that the 16-year-old, who is currently on the books of Linfield FC, is now Leeds bound after the Championship club made a breakthrough in negotiations for the striker.

Leeds are said to have agreed a £300,000 deal with Linfield said to be moving quickly to get the transfer completed.
