Report: Leeds United and Tottenham both interested in Spanish international

Leeds United have joined Tottenham in the race to sign Wolves winger Adama Traore, according to TEAMtalk.

Traore is currently on loan at Barcelona after rejoining his boyhood club in January, who have the option of signing the 26-year-old permanently for £29 million this summer (Sky Sports).

However, the Spaniard has struggled to nail down a regular spot under Xavi, with Sport previously reporting the La Liga side will not look to complete a transfer at the end of the loan deal.

TEAMtalk now report that Wolves do not expect Barcelona to sign Traore on a permanent basis and believe he will return to Molineux, which has invited more interest from across the Premier League.

The report adds that Leeds, despite being threatened by relegation, have now made contact with Traore’s representatives about a potential deal ahead of the summer transfer window.

It also notes the Whites’ latest interest in Traore will rival Tottenham, who are likely to ‘reignite’ their pursuit at the end of the campaign.

Spurs were also allegedly interested in a transfer in January, with Antonio Conte thought to have wanted to bring Traore in as an option to play at right wing-back (The Athletic).

It is very likely that Traore will return to Wolves at the end of his loan spell and it now looks to be a case of where his next club will be away from the Midlands.

Leeds’ interest is strange given the club could suffer relegation from the Premier League, but no doubt Spurs will be involved again with their current wing-back options still being questionable.
