Report: Leeds United are interested in Spurs-linked attacking midfielder

German publication Sport1 have revealed that Leeds United hold an interest in Eintracht Frankfurt star Daichi Kamada, who is rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar.

The Evening Standard reported on Monday that Clement Lenglet and Djed Spence are likely to be Tottenham’s fourth and fifth signings of the summer, and added that the North London club are also on the lookout for a creative midfielder.

One of the attacking midfielders Antonio Conte’s men have been linked with is Kamada, who scored nine goals and provided four assists across all competitions in 2021/22 (Transfermarkt).

The print edition of SportBILD (18/05/22 – via Sport Witness) reported back in May that Spurs and Sevilla were battling it out for the Japanese international’s signature this summer.

Frankfurter Rundschau reported a couple of weeks ago that Frankfurt could sell the 25-year-old for a cut-price fee of just £10m.

Sport1 have now explained that Kamada’s future is up in the air and that the Bundesliga club are open to cashing in on the player to avoid losing him for nothing when his contract runs out in 12 months.

The report makes no mention of Tottenham but states that the versatile midfielder is on Leeds’ summer wishlist.

I expect Spurs to sell Ndombele and Lo Celso, and bring in one creative midfielder before the window shuts. A player like Kamada would be perfect for a bit-part role, given that he is available for a cut-price fee.

His energy off the ball would make him a very good fit for Conte’s set-up. However, the Japanese international might prefer to join a club like Leeds, where he is more likely to get regular game time.
