Report: Leeds United closer to agreeing deal for Spurs-linked World Cup star

90 min have now revealed that Leeds United are not that far away from striking a deal with Angers for midfielder Azzedine Ounahi, who has been linked with a move to Tottenham over recent weeks.

Ounahi’s displays for Morocco at the World Cup have seemingly got many clubs across Europe to stand up and take notice, with La Repubblica claiming last week that Tottenham were one of the teams to have made contact with Angers over a deal for the 22-year-old.

The likes of Napoli (TyC Sports) and Leeds (Foot Mercato) have also emerged as contenders for the midfielder’s signature over recent days.

90 min have now claimed that Jesse Marsch’s men are edging closer to striking a deal with Angers for Ounahi. The report states that Leeds have submitted a €25m (£21.8m) offer for the midfielder, which is not too far off from the €30m (£26.2m) that the Ligue 1 club are demanding.

The publication adds that Leicester City have also made an offer for Ounahi but the Foxes’ proposal does not meet Angers’ main condition, which is to loan the midfielder back to the French club until the summer.

Even if Tottenham were considering strengthening in central midfield during the January window, Pape Matar Sarr’s rise to prominence over the last couple of weeks would have likely convinced the North Londoners to put that off until the end of the season.
