Report: Leeds United could make move for Spurs defender

Leeds United are reportedly interested in signing Tottenham defender Juan Foyth, who is said to have been made available for sale by the North Londoners this summer.

Foyth has barely seen any game time since Jose Mourinho arrived at Tottenham and the defender admitted last month that he would prefer to leave if he is not going to be playing regularly (TNT).

Reports have claimed that the Lilywhites will let the Argentine leave this summer if they receive an offer of around £10million (Calcio Mercato).

Mundo Deportivo claim that the 23-year-old has been offered to clubs around Europe including Barcelona, with The Mirror suggesting that the Catalan giants are keen on his signature.

However, they could face competition from Leeds United with as Football Insider claiming that Marcelo Bielsa is keen to bring his countryman to Elland Road next season should they gain promotion to the Premier League.

Leeds have previously said to have had their loan enquiries for Foyth turned down but it is reported that they could return this summer with a permanent offer for the Argentine international.

Leeds will first need to achieve promotion for them to have a chance of landing Foyth and there are still major question marks over that given the coronavirus suspension. If Leeds do get promoted, I can see Bielsa persuading the Spurs defender to join him at Elland Road.

I would personally prefer us to loan Foyth out but it is clear that we need to raise transfer funds this summer. So I understand why the club want to move him on along with the likes of Danny Rose and Kyle Walker-Peters.
