Report: Leeds United ready to outbid Spurs for attacking midfield talent

Leeds United are ready to swoop for rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Eberechi Eze this summer ahead of their first Premier League campaign in almost two decades, according to a report from The Sun.

Eze was linked with a move to Tottenham earlier in the season, although such rumours have died down of late.

In fact, The Athletic’s David Ornstein reported last week that West Ham United and Crystal Palace were the frontrunners to land the Queens Park Ranger star this summer.

It now looks as if Spurs might have another competitor to deal with if they want to sign the 22-year-old, with The Sun claiming that Leeds are ready to step up their chase.

It is revealed that Marcelo Bielsa is a fan of Eze and identified the QPR star as the man to bring a creative spark to his side in the top flight.

The report asserts that Leeds had already informed QPR in January that they would be making an offer for Eze in the summer if they win promotion to the Premier League.

It is claimed that the club are now ready to outbid Spurs, West Ham, and Crystal Palace for the midfielder, who is valued at £20 million by QPR.

Spurs Web Opinion

Going by the reports over the past few weeks, it does seem as if Eze is not a top priority for us anymore. Perhaps, the club changed their minds about the 22-year-old or decided to turn their attentions to other targets instead. However, £20m for a player for Eze’s potential seems like a bargain even under the current circumstances. One would imagine that we will be able to beat the likes of Leeds, Palace and West Ham to Eze’s signature if we were actually interested.
