Report: Leicester and Newcastle set to challenge Spurs for Premier League star

The Daily Mail reports that Leicester City and Newcastle United have entered the race to sign rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Todd Cantwell.

Cantwell has been one of the few shining lights in what has been a disappointing campaign for Norwich on their return to the Premier League.

With the Canaries’ relegation from the top flight now confirmed, Cantwell is among those who could potentially be poached by Premier League sides, with Spurs among the clubs said to be interested in signing the 22-year-old (Football Insider).

The Daily Mail has now confirmed that Leicester and Newcastle have become the latest sides to express their interest in signing the midfielder.

The report names Tottenham as one of the potential suitors for the youngster’s signature but it is suggested that the Lilywhites may have to see off a considerable amount of competition in order to land the Norwich man.

Apart from Leicester and Newcastle, Manchester United and Manchester City have also been credited with interest in Cantwell while Bundesliga giants, Bayern Munich, are also said to be tracking the youngster ahead of the summer transfer window.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not see where Cantwell would fit in at Spurs, particularly if we are to start with two wide forwards. As things stand, Lo Celso, Lamela, and Dele seem to be competing for the one attacking midfield position in the side and so I do not see how singing the Norwich youngster would improve us.
