Report: Leicester City join race for defender as Spurs hesitate to meet asking price

The Sun have revealed that Leicester City have now joined Tottenham Hotspur in the race for Swansea City central defender, Joe Rodon.

There has been plenty written about Tottenham’s pursuit of Rodon over the last week, with Football Insider claiming that Spurs were ready to offer £13m for the centre-back.

The Daily Star also revealed that, while the likes of Manchester United and West Ham were also showing interest in the defender, Tottenham held the upper hand in the race owing to the influence of Rodon’s Wales teammates, Gareth Bale and Ben Davies.

The Sun have now revealed that yet another Premier League side in Leicester City have entered the race for the defender’s signature.

They assert that Tottenham have so far only offered £7m plus adds on to sign the defender while Swansea are demanding around £20m for his services.

While the Foxes are reportedly keen on the centre-back, they are said to be looking at him as an option during the January transfer window or next summer.

The report also credits Sheffield United with interest in Rodon, although it is said that they could pursue Huddersfield’s Terence Kongolo instead.
