Report: Leicester leading the race to sign star linked with Spurs and Man Utd

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Leicester City are now leading the race to sign rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target, Giorgi Mamardashvili.

Mamardashvili is thought to be one of the names on Tottenham’s radar to replace Hugo Lloris in the summer, with COPE reporting earlier this week that the agent of Valencia’s number-one even met with representatives from Spurs.

The publication added that Manchester United were Tottenham’s main competitor for the 22-year-old’s signature, and asserted that Los Che would have to cash in on their goalkeeper, given their need to raise funds this summer.

However, the outlet stated that despite having conversations with the Georgian’s representatives, neither Spurs nor Man Utd had approached Valencia with an offer.

If Romano’s latest update is to be believed, Leicester might have stolen a march on both Tottenham and United in the race for Mamardashvili’s signature.

The journalist has taken to social media to state that the goalkeeper’s agent, Levan Seturidze, had also met with Chelsea but asserted that it is the Foxes who are currently the frontrunners for his signature.

It is certainly not surprising that Mamardashvili is one the radars of many clubs as he has proven to be an excellent shot-stopper while also being quite competent with the ball at his feet.

The fact that he is only 22 years of age, means that he can potentially be the number one for over a decade.
