Report: Leicester set to make an approach for Spurs target ‘in the coming days’

According to a report by Turkish news outlet Askam, Leicester City have now entered the race to sign Fenerbahce striker Vedat Muriqi this summer.

Spurs still lack a natural back up to Harry Kane and it would not be surprising in our opinion for the club to dip into the market for a centre forward who can play the target man role.

One possible option is Muriqi, who Spurs are said to have had a bid of £17million rejected for during the January transfer window (Turkish TV Channel A Spor).

The Turkish press have continued linking the Lilywhites with a move for the 26-year-old over recent weeks (Sabah via Sport Witness) only for journalists close to Tottenham, such as Football.London’s Alasdair Gold to have cast doubt on Spurs’ rumoured interest in the Kosovan international.

West Bromwich Albion are also said to be interested in the striker ahead of their return to the Premier League next season (Fanatik).

Askam claim that Leicester have also identified Muriqi has an option to bolster their frontline.

It is reported that the Foxes are expected to begin talks with Fenerbahce over a potential transfer in the coming days.

Spurs Web Opinion

I am convinced by now that Muriqi is a fair way down in our list of striker targets this summer. I can understand why we would have been interested in the 26-year-old during January as we were desperate for a striker with Kane out injured.

However, there are clearly many more options who are now potentially available. While Milik would be the ideal signing, I would be pretty pleased if we managed to nab Callum Wilson following Bournemouth’s relegation.
