Report: Leicester want to make £40m double swoop for rumoured Spurs targets

According to a report from Inter Live, Leicester City are aiming to complete a double swoop for Inter Milan pair Stefan de Vrij and Marcelo Brozovic, both of whom have also been linked with moves to Tottenham this summer.
Inter’s owners, Suning have been hit hard by the economic chaos caused by the pandemic, with the club thus being forced to cash in on some of their top players.
There have been suggestions over recent days that Tottenham are looking to take advantage of the Serie A champions’ situation and snap up Lautaro Martinez.
The Argentine is not the only Inter star who is thought to be of interest to Spurs, with reports suggesting back in June that Fabio Paraitic also had his eye on De Vrij and Brozovic.
However, Inter Live are now suggesting Leicester are looking to bring the pair to the King Power Stadium.
The report explains that Brendan Rodgers’ men have identified De Vrij as the man to strengthen their backline after Wesley Fofana’s injury.
The Foxes are said to be looking to sign the Dutch defender as well his teammate, Brozovic for a combined fee of around €48m (£40.6m).
However, it is explained the offer ‘is difficult for Inter to accept’ as the Nerrazuri hierarchy want to avoid a fan revolt after their sale of Romelu Lukaku.
Spurs Web Opinion
While I am not overly keen on bringing either De Vrij or Brozovic to Spurs, it would be a blow for the North Londoners if Leicester signed the pair.
That would reduce the financial pressure on Inter’s ownership and would thus make it less likely that Lautaro Martinez will be sold.
