Report: Levy expected to make recruitment promise to get Arne Slot to join Spurs

Sources suggest Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy could be set to give Arne Slot complete control over transfers at the club in order to secure the Dutchman as Spurs’ next permanent manager.

Tottenham are on the hunt for a new manager yet again after Antonio Conte left the club at the end of March.

Since then, his former assistant, Cristian Stellini, was sacked after just four games as interim manager.

Ryan Mason is currently the Acting Head Coach at the North London club until the end of the season, at which point a full-time manager is set to be announced.

Multiple names have been mooted as possible candidates for the vacancy, but Feyenoord coach Slot appears to be the top candidate now (Fabrizio Romano).

Slot has just guided Feyenoord to the Eredivisie title and has impressed many with his tactical acumen.

But it appears the 44-year-old is now looking to move on and is set to discuss his next steps with the Feyenoord board (Daily Mail).

It is thought Levy will need to pay £10 million in compensation if he is to take Slot away from the Dutch side (Daily Mail).

The latest from Football Insider sources claims Levy will also need to give Slot total control over transfer activity in order to convince the highly-rated coach to move to North London.

It is believed discussions between Tottenham and Slot are “progressing well” and may now be at an “advanced stage.”

The only stumbling block now is thought to be how much control Slot will be given over transfers and the “composition of his coaching staff.”

With this in mind, Levy is expected to “concede ground on recruitment and staff” to get the deal over the line.

It should not be an issue at all to give Slot the freedom to choose who he works with and what players he adds to his squad.

There has been interference from above for far too long at this club, and we need to trust the next manager wholeheartedly if we’re going to see any success.
