Report: Levy in talks with Napoli over potential big money move for defender

Tottenham Hotspur signed Toby Alderweireld up to a new contract earlier this month, a deal that will keep him at the club until 2023.

However, Jan Vertonghen and young Japhet Tanganga are still set to leave on free transfers at the end of the season if they do not agree new deals with Spurs.

This could leave Tottenham a little short at the back, with only Juan Foyth, Alderweireld, and Davinson Sanchez as other first-team options.

El Desmarque have now reported that Tottenham and Daniel Levy are now in talks with Napoli over a potential deal for Kalidou Koulibaly.

The fee is suggested to be around $100m, which would smash the current Tottenham transfer record.

The report adds that Real Madrid are interested, but have a strict budget to stick to in January which could gives Spurs a chance to pounce.

Italian journalist, Fabio Santini, claims that Koulibaly has asked Napoli to leave the club (Area Napoli).
