Report: Levy may be left in ‘difficult position’ with Spurs managerial target

The Daily Mirror claims that Tottenham Hotspur could be handed a big blow in their reported pursuit of Julian Nagelsmann, with the RB Leipzig coach potentially set to replace Hansi Flick at Bayern Munich in the summer.

Reports indicate that Jose Mourinho’s job at Tottenham is under threat, particularly if the North Londoners fail to secure a top-four finish.

Nagelsmann is reportedly at the top of Spurs’ wishlist to repalce Mourinho at the helm on the back of the impressive work that the 33-year-old has done at Hoffenheim and Leipzig.

Flick, who has enjoyed tremendous success at Bayern since replacing Niko Kovac last season, is said to be most likely successor to Joachim Low, who will step down from the Germany hotseat after this summer’s European Championship.

The Mirror now claim that Nagelsmann is Bayern’s desired replacement for Flick and that the Leipzig boss would favour a move to the Allianz Arena over taking over at N17.

The report suggests that Daniel Levy could be left in a difficult position this summer if his number one managerial target takes over at the reigning European champions.

Spurs Web Opinion

Levy is a smart businessman who always takes into account the potential opportunity cost of his various decisions. That is why he probably decided to pull the plug on Pochettino earlier than he would have wanted last season.

So, if Nagelsmann is indeed Tottenham’s number one target and if Levy feels that he has to make an early move to ensure he gets his man, that is not good news for Mourinho’s chances of hanging on to his job.
