Report: Levy said to be keen to get midfielder to sign new deal

Tottenham are set to submit a new contract offer to young midfielder Tashan Oakley-Boothe after he knocked back the club’s initial approach.

A report by Football Insider claims that the 19-year-old is highly rated at the club and there is hope that he can eventually break into the Spurs first team.

Oakley-Boothe has been involved in and around the first team under Mauricio Pochettino and has even featured in pre-season games but he is yet to make the senior matchday squad so far this season.

His contract with Tottenham reportedly runs out in the summer of 2021 but the Spurs hierarchy including chairman Daniel Levy are said to be keen to ensure they don’t lose him to rival clubs.

Football Insider revealed earlier in the week that the youngster had rejected Spurs’ initial offer but it is now suggested the club are confident they can persuade the midfielder to stay.

Spurs Web Opinion

I have been impressed with what I have seen of Oakley-Boothe but it is clear that Oliver Skipp is now ahead of him in the pecking order. Hopefully, Mourinho can get a good look at him in the coming months and over next summer. He certainly seems to have all the tools in his locker to develop into a well-rounded midfielder.
