Report: Levy wants new manager in place ‘soon’ after opening talks

Football Insider have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have now begun speaking to candidates for their managerial vacancy and want to make a ‘quick appointment’

It emerged last week that Daniel Levy had met with Julian Nageslmann to discuss the managerial vacancy (CaughtOffside).

However, it has since emerged that the parties have only held initial talks rather than concrete discussions, with the German keen to find out who the club’s new director of football would be before accepting the job (Sky Germany).

ESPN reported on Monday that Arne Slot is also a ‘serious candidate’ to take over at Hotspur Way and the Tottenham hierarchy do not want to miss out on the Dutchman as they regret their decision to pass up on his compatriot Erik Ten Hag back in 2021.

Meanwhile, journalist Sacha Tavolieri claimed a few days ago that Spurs are also in talks with Vincent Kompany’s representatives, with the Burnley boss allegedly seen by the North London club as someone who can unify everyone in N17.

Football Insider have now named Naglesmann, Slot and Kompany as the three top candidates to replace Antonio Conte at the helm.

The publication states that Tottenham chiefs have now started talking to the candidates, with Levy said to be keen on ‘wrapping up a deal’ soon.

Tottenham cannot afford to take too much time to make the appointment as it might have knock-off effects, including allowing other clubs to steal a march on summer transfer targets.

However, the one issue Spurs might have in convincing the likes of Nagelsmann is that coaches might be hesitant to take the job if they do not have clarity on which director of football they would be working under.
