Report: Leyton Orient and Tottenham receive verdict on Carabao Cup clash

In a cruel twist of fate for Leyton Orient and Tottenham Hotspur their Carabao Cup third-round match, which was scheduled for tonight, has been called off (Sky Sports).

Leyton revealed earlier today that a number of first-team players had tested positive for COVID-19, obviously ruling them out of the Tottenham game.

Not only this, but their home stadium, which had been scheduled as the venue for the match, had been shut down for the time being.

It is not yet revealed whether that Orient will have to forfeit the tie, meaning that Spurs would automatically be named as the winners and progress to the fourth-round, which has been reported by some outlets.

The fourth-round draw already revealed that Spurs will face either Chelsea or Barnsley.

While Jose Mourinho and his team will likely be glad of an extra two days rest before their Thursday night Europa League match, it remains to be seen whether the tie will be rescheduled and when for.

We at Spurs Web would like to wish the Orient players and staff a speedy recovery and good luck for the rest of the season.
