Report: Ligue 1 club have now entered race to sign in-demand Tottenham man

The Daily Mail have revealed that Lyon have expressed an interest in signing Tottenham right-back Djed Spence on loan for the remainder of the season.

With Pedro Porro seemingly edging closer to a move to Tottenham (The Sun), it has emerged that the North London club have green the green light for Spence to leave on loan.

Football.London reported yesterday that Brentford and Leicester City are interested in the 22-year-old while 90 min subsequently revealed that West Ham United, Crystal Palace, Bournemouth and Southampton are on the England Under-21 international’s trail while Championship duo Middlesbrough and Burnley are also keen on him.

The Mail have now backed up Leicester’s and Brentford‘s interest in Spence but they reveal that the right-back has also attracted attention from France.

It is explained that Lyon right-back Malo Gusto is expected to make a £30m switch to Chelsea over the coming days, and the Ligue 1 club have identified the Spurs defender as a potential replacement.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is not surprising to see the race for Spence heating up, given the potential he showed at Nottingham Forest last season. I suspect Tottenham’s preference would be to loan him to another Premier League club as long as they can find a club that can offer some basic guarantees regarding game time for the 22-year-old.
