Report: Ligue 1 club identify replacement for Spurs target

Tottenham have been linke with a move for Lyon midfielder Boubakary Soumare in the past few weeks with the 20-year-old said to be one of Mourinho’s primary targets in January (The Sun).

French newspaper L’Equipe reported on Monday (as relayed by Sport Witness) that Lille are ready to sanction the midfielder’s sale in January for a fee of around €50-60m.

Now, GFFN have also claimed that the Ligue 1 club are ready to part ways with Soumare should they receive a suitable offer next month.

It is suggested that the French club have identified Celtic’s 23-year-old French midfielder Olivier Ntcham as Soumare’s replacement should he leave in January.

Lille reportedly sent scouts to watch Ntcham in action during Celtic’s home encounter with Rennes in the Europa League recently.

They are said to have been sufficiently impressed with the Celtic man and it is suggested that Lille’s sporting director Luis Campos could sanction a move for the midfielder with Soumare expected to leave.

Spurs Web Opinion

All the indications coming out of the French press seem to suggest that Soumare is on his way out of Lille. I believe Jose Mourinho’s and Joao Sacramento’s relationship with Luis Campos puts Spurs in the driving seat for his signature. While he will be a fantastic addition to the squad, I don’t believe another central midfield is an urgent priority in January.
