Report: Ligue 1 club interested in Spurs star – They see signing as ‘achievable’

According to a report from France Bleu, Rennes have entered the race to sign Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

Lloris is now free to sign a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs as the goalkeeper is now into the final six months of his contract at Tottenham.

Some sources have reported that the North London club remain confident that their captain will put pen to paper on an extension.

Antonio Conte has claimed that he is not worried about the 35-year-old’s contract situation, insisting the Frenchman ‘loves’ Tottenham.

It was previously reported that Lloris’ boyhood club Nice had expressed an interest in bringing the goalkeeper back to Ligue 1.

France Bleu have now claimed that Rennes have also been alerted to the Tottenham number one’s contract situation.

The report reveals that Rennes owner Francois Pinault has been pushing since last summer to bring France’s World Cup-winning captain to the club.

It is explained that while Rennes would find the operation ‘complicated’ due to Lloris’ salary, they consider the Tottenham man’s signing to be ‘achievable’.

Spurs Web Opinion

The speculation over Lloris’ future is not going to die down until there is an official announcement that he has extended his contract. I am not too worried about the Frenchman as he has proven his loyalty to Spurs over the years and there is no reason to think that he would reject the club’s contract offer.
