Report: Ligue 1 club reject £9m bid for Tottenham and Everton striker target

Clermont Foot have rejected an offer from Lille to sign striker Mohamed Bayo, who has also been linked with Tottenham this summer, according Foot Mercato.

The 2020-21 Ligue 1 champions lodged an €11 million (£9m) bid for the 24-year-old which was swiftly turned down by Les Lanciers.

It is explained Clermont are seeking a fee of at least €14m (£12m) for Bayo after a strong recent campaign which saw him tally 14 goals and five assists (Transfermarkt).

The same report adds his impressive displays have also put him on the radar outside of France, with Tottenham and Everton named as potential suitors from the Premier League.

Bayo came through the ranks with hometown club Clermont and fired in 21 goals during his breakthrough campaign two seasons ago to help secure them promotion to Ligue 1 (Transfermarkt).

Born in France, Bayo is also of Guinean descent and debuted for the national team last year during an Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match.

Spurs Web Opinion

Bayo has had a very solid couple of seasons for Clermont and he could be a very viable option to transition his play over to the Premier League.

Tottenham have had issues finding two quality strikers in recent seasons and Bayo could have been someone to consider, but the recent arrival of Richarlison could now block that path.
