Report: Ligue 1 club resigned themselves to selling rumoured Spurs striker target

Foot Mercato have reported that C Metz are keen to tie striker Ibrahima Niane down to a new contract as they resign themselves to selling Tottenham Hotspur target, Habib Diallo.

Diallo has had a fairly productive campaign in front of goal, with 12 goals in 26 league appearances this season (transfermarkt.com).

The centre-forward’s agent admitted previously that Spurs failed with an offer for the Metz star during the January transfer window (APS), with La Semaine once again establishing the North Londoners as the favourites to snap him up this summer.

Foot Mercato have now revealed that Metz have all but given up hope of hanging on to the 25-year-old and are planning for life without him next season.

It is claimed that Diallo is courting plenty of interest from both England and Germany and the club are hopeful that Niane will be able to fill the Senegal international’s shoes should he depart this summer.

The Ligue 1 side are reportedly thus trying to ward off interest from Lille for Niane and tie him down to a new four-year deal.

Diallo does tick a lot of the boxes in terms of what we need in a centre-forward. His hold up play is excellent, he is an aerial threat, can lead the line on his own or partner Kane up front. Our interest in the Senegalese would also tie in with earlier reports that we are looking at various bargain options from the Ligue 1 this summer.
