Report: Ligue 1 club set to sell midfielder following interest Spurs and Barcelona

According to a report from Le10Sport, Tottenham Hotspur and Barcelona have both expressed an interest in signing Lille midfielder, Renato Sanches.

Sanches has not quite managed to live up to the promise he showed as a teenager at Bayern Munich but the midfielder has been progressing steadily since his move to Lille in 2019.

Despite enduring an injury-hit campaign last time out, the 23-year-old still made 29 appearances across all competitions, playing a valued part in Lille’s historic Ligue 1 triumph.

Le10Sport have now revealed that Lille have decided to cash in on Sanches this summer, with the midfielder generating interest from across Europe.

Tottenham and Barcelona have reportedly approached the club regarding the Portuguese international, with the Catalan club said to have even held talks with the player’s entourage about a potential move to Camp Nou.

The report adds that Sanches could depart Stade Pierre Mauroy in the coming weeks.

However, it is explained that Barcelona have to sell some players and lower their wage bill before they can make a move for the Lille man.

Spurs Web Opinion

With reports indicating that Winks and Sissoko could both be on their way out, we will likely be in the market for a midfielder.

However, I do not expect us to go for a player in the top-tier like Frank Kessie or Manuel Locatelli as the position is clearly not as much of a priority as other areas.
