Report: Rennes director catches flight to try and sign Spurs-linked centre-back

According to RMC Sport, Rennes have stepped up their pursuit of Fenerbahce centre-back Kim Min-jae, who is rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar.

Clement Lenglet is expected to be the first central defender to arrive through the door at Tottenham this summer, with reports indicating that the France international is close to completing a season-loan loan move to the North London club (Sport).

Fabrizio Romano has said that despite Lenglet’s impending arrival, Spurs may monitor market opportunities for defensive reinforcements this summer (GiveMeSport).

Kim is another central defender who is mooted to be on Antonio Conte’s radar, with Ekrem Konur stating last month that the Lilywhites could make a move for the South Korean on the back of his impressive first season in Turkish football.

However, RMC Sport have now revealed that Rennes have identified the Fenerbahce defender as a potential replacement for Nayef Aguerd, who has joined West Ham United.

The report claims that Renne’s technical director Florian Maurice has travelled to Turkey to push through a deal for Kim.

RMC Sport add that Rennes are not the only club eyeing a move for the 25-year-old, with Napoli and Marseille also said to have expressed interest in the former Beijing Guoan man.

Spurs Web Opinion

Assuming Lenglet joins while Sanchez and Rodon depart, that would leave Conte with five options at centre-back including Dier, Romero, Davies and Tanganga.

So, I would be surprised if we spend big money on another centre-back this summer. Perhaps Conte might decide to keep Sanchez around as a squad player if the Colombian is content with a bit-part role.
