Report: Ligue 1 club will fight to keep centre-back wanted by Spurs

According to a report from L’Equipe (as relayed by GFFN), Lille have no intention of letting rumoured Tottenham target Sven Botman leave this summer.

Spurs are expected to prioritise strengthening at centre-back this summer with speculation suggesting that both Toby Alderweireld and Davinson Sanchez could be on their way out.

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has stated that the club would ideally like to sign two central defenders.

The likes of Southampton’s Jannik Vestergaard and Lyon’s Joachim Andersen have been linked with a move to Spurs but Botman has also been mooted as a target by previous reports.

It was rumoured that Lille had told Tottenham that they need to pay around €45m (£39m) to sign the Dutch defender.

However, L’Equipe now claim that Lille are determined to hold on to the 21-year-old ahead of their foray into the Champions League next season. It is asserted that the Ligue 1 club consider Botman ‘close to unsellable’.

The speculation linking us with Botman has died down considerably over the last couple of months. That suggests that it was either Mourinho who was pushing for the Dutch defender or that Spurs have instead moved on to cheaper options like Andersen after understanding Lille’s stance on the Dutch defender.
