Report: Ligue 1 side expecting to lose Spurs goalkeeping target this summer

Lille expect goalkeeper Mike Maignan, who is rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar, to leave the club this summer, according to the latest reports from France.

Maignan has been in stellar form between the sticks for Lille over the last three seasons. He also worked with Spurs assistant coach, Joao Sacramento, and goalkeeping coach, Nuno Santos, during their time with the Ligue 1 outfit.

Le10 Sport reported recently that Jose Mourinho was keen on bringing Maignan to North London as Hugo Lloris’ replacement. Some Spurs fans were left rather thrilled about the idea of bringing the 24-year-old to North London.

La Voix du Nord now reveals that Lille expect to lose the highly-rated shot-stopper this summer. It is claimed that the club signed Brazilian goalkeeper Leo Jardim last year to replace Maignan if and when he departs.

The report also reiterates that Spurs have identified the Lille star has the man to succeed Hugo Lloris in North London.

Spurs Web Opinion

Out of all the goalkeepers we’ve been linked with so far, Maignan is the one I’m most excited by. However, I do not expect us to bid for him or any other potential first-choice keeper this summer as we will have to prioritise our targets based on our limited budget.
