Report: Ligue 1 side receive ‘serious enquiry’ from PL club for rumoured Spurs target

Lyon have confirmed that they have received a ‘serious enquiry’ from an English club for rumoured Tottenham target Joachim Andersen, The Telegraph reports.

Bolstering their options at centre-back is reported to be at the top of Spurs’ priorities when the transfer window opens in the summer.

Previous reports claimed that Andersen is one of the names on Tottenham’s radar on the back of his impressive showing for Fulham over recent months.

The centre-back, who is on loan from Lyon has adapted quickly to life in the Premier League.

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has also revealed that the Dane is one of the options Spurs are considering along with Brighton’s Lewis Dunk and Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic.

The Telegraph claim that Lyon are open to selling Anderson in the summer as they look to ease their financial woes..

The Ligue 1 club have reportedly received an enquiry from an unnamed English club for the 24-year-old and it is said that they are open to selling him for £25m.

The report adds that Spurs could face competition from Manchester United and Leicester City for Andersen.

Spurs Web Opinion

Andersen certainly fits the profile of signings Tottenham usually go for. Not only would he come relatively cheaply and but he has the potential to improve over the next few years. He has demonstrated this season that he can cope with the physicality and pace of the Premier League.

However, our main weakness at the back seems to be our inability to deal with crosses into the box and I am not sure Andersen would be the answer to that problem. I would expect us to potentially be in the market for another aerially dominant centre-back along with Andersen.
