Report: Linked-away midfielder wants to save his Spurs career under Conte

Eurosport have claimed that Dele Alli has not yet given up on his Tottenham career and wants to resurrect his form under Antonio Conte.

Alli’s stock has fallen dramatically over the last few years after he initially burst onto the scene under Mauricio Pochettino following his move from MK Dons.

The 25-year-old did start Tottenham’s first six games of the season under Nuno Espirito Santo but ultimately fell out of favour with the Portuguese coach.

Antonio Conte has spoken in glowing terms about the midfielder’s talent but the midfielder faces an uphill battle in forcing himself into the Italian’s starting eleven.

Alli got his first start of the Conte era in the Europa Conference League clash against NS Mura but he struggled to impact the game before being withdrawn on 54 minutes.

There have been suggestions over recent days that the England international could be moved on from the club in January. However, Eurosport have claimed that Alli still believes he can turn his fortunes around in North London.

The report states that while Spurs are expecting interest in the midfielder to ramp up, the former MK Dons man is keen to force himself into the team.

It is alleged that Alli knows this could be his last chance to save his Tottenham career and he has made no complaints privately about his lack of game time under the 52-year-old so far.

The report further asserts that Conte believes he can unlock Alli and get him performing at his previous levels.

Following several false dawns over the last couple of years, this really does seem like Dele’s last chance to save his Spurs career. The 25-year-old certainly has to do a lot better than he did in Slovenia last week if he is to convince Conte to give him more minutes.
