Report: Linked-away Spurs star expects to extend contract after talks with Levy

Football Insider have claimed that Hugo Lloris is set to stay at Tottenham beyond this summer’s transfer window after holding talks with the club about his future.

Lloris will enter the final 12 months of his contract with Spurs in the summer and it has been reported that the goalkeeper is unlikely to sign a new contract with the North Londoners.

Reports indicate that a return to France is on the cards for the goalkeeper, with Pairs Saint-Germain and his former club Nice both being mooted as potential destinations for the Tottenham man.

Fabrizio Romano stated last month that Tottenham were yet to make a decision regarding the 34-year-old’s future.

However, Football Insider have now revealed that Lloris is set to end doubts over his future and remain at the club.

It is said that the Tottenham captain held talks with chairman Daniel Levy and expressed his willingness to continue at the club.

The France number one is expected to put pen to paper on a new contract that will extend his time at the club to at least 10 years and possibly longer.

Lloris has not really shown any signs of decline despite being 34 and I do not see why the club should not hand him a new contract. It will be quite expensive to replace the Frenchman with a goalkeeper of similar quality. With various other areas of the squad needing investment, it makes perfect sense for the club to hold on to the former Lyon man.
