Report links Tottenham with potential move for Bayern Munich defender

Tottenham Hotspur have emerged as a potential destination for want-away Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard, according to reports coming out of Spain (Todofichajes).

Pavard joined the Bundesliga giants in the summer of 2019 and has made 140 appearances for the Bavarian club since (Transfermarkt). The 26-year-old is highly rated across Europe, but appears to be looking for a fresh challenge.

His current contract expires in 2024 (Transfermarkt), but Pavard has made it clear he has no intentions of renewing his deal.

According to Todofichajes, both Real Madrid and Barcelona are keen on the Frenchman, but aren’t sure whether to make a move for him or not. That’s where Tottenham Hotspur could come in.

It’s been clear for some time that Antonio Conte is not happy with his options in the right wing-back area, and 90min confirmed the Italian will look to ‘overhaul’ the position in the next transfer window.

Last week, The Express claimed Spurs could see Pavard as the ideal man for the role and that Fabio Paratici was exploring the options for bringing the World Cup winner to North London.

The report from Todofichajes suggests Pavard may be keen on a move to the Premier League, and states Tottenham Hotspur could sneak in ahead of the La Liga giants and ‘undertake his signing this January.’

Apparently, ‘the starting price is €35 million (£30.3m), although negotiable,’ with Bayern Munich not wanting to drag the situation out too long and force a player to stay where he doesn’t want to be.

Spurs Web Opinion

Benjamin Pavard would be a brilliant signing for Spurs, and that eagerness to move on could be crucial in helping Spurs secure his signature. He offers the experience and winning mentality we know Antonio Conte loves in his players and he would be able to slot straight into the system at Spurs. He’s also got a great balance of attacking prowess and defensive capabilities, so this one should be a no-brainer.
