Wolves striker Hwang Hee-chan has been on fire this season, and he has been so impressive that both Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool are now interested in signing him.
Hwang Hee-chan only joined Wolves on a permanent deal last summer but he has made a huge impact on the club’s fortunes. The South Korean scored four goals and added three assists last term to help his side avoid the drop (Transfermarkt).
This season, however, Hwang has truly settled in English football, scoring 11 goals and registering three assists already (Transfermarkt) as Gary O’Neil’s men push for a place in the top ten in the Premier League.
Naturally, a player in that kind of form is going to attract attention from elsewhere. But this is not the first time Hwang has been linked with Tottenham, after it was suggested at the end of last season that the Lilywhites were interested in the 27-year-old (Mirror).
Spurs and Liverpool are chasing Hwang
Now, according to sources at Football Insider, Tottenham may be back in the hunt for Hwang Hee-chan. But, they will face competition from Liverpool if they want to sign the Korean striker.
The two Premier League outfits are thought to be “monitoring” the Wolves man, with a view to making a move in the summer. It is said an approach in January would be “unlikely.”
MORE SPURS STORIES
Apparently, “scouts have been blown away” by Hwang’s form this season and with both Spurs and Liverpool “planning their business in advance” it is suggested the 27-year-old could be set for a big move at the end of the season.
However, the one stumbling block is that Hwang has recently penned a new contract lasting until 2028.
Spurs Web Opinion
I have been very impressed with Hwang this season, and he possesses all the qualities Ange Postecoglou would look for in an attacker: versatility, strong work ethic, clever movement, and clinical finishing. I think Hwang would be a great signing.
