Report: Liverpool attempting to sign Spurs full-back target for just £10m

Sky Sports claim that Liverpool are ready to enter the race to sign rumoured Tottenham target Jamal Lewis this summer.

While Tottenham have continued to be linked with left-backs this summer, some reports have indicated that Jose Mourinho is happy with his options in the position and is ready to promote Dennis Cirkin to the first-team (Football.London).

However, with Danny Rose seemingly on his way out of the club (Guardian) and a loan move being mooted for Ryan Sessegnon (Telegraph), the club may yet be in the market for a new left-back option.

One of the players Spurs have been linked with is Norwich’s Jamal Lewis (BILD), who gave a decent account of himself in his first taste of top-flight football this season.

However, Sky Sports now report that Liverpool have identified the Canaries defender as the man to provide cover for Andy Robertson and are ready to make a £10million offer for him.

It is claimed that Norwich are not keen on selling the 22-year-old and are holding out for closer to £20m. The report asserts that the final decision over the transfer will rest with Lewis himself, since he will not be first-choice at Anfield.

Spurs Web Opinion

I honestly do not see Lewis as an upgrade over Sessegnon. It would not make much sense for us to let the former Fulham man leave on loan, only to sign the Norwich star. I do not expect us to be in the market for a left-back this summer, particularly with Tanganga proving before the lockdown that he can do a decent job in the position.
