Report: Liverpool could battle Tottenham for La Liga star this summer

According to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Liverpool are now weighing up a move for Barcelona winger Raphinha, who is also rumoured to be the radar of Tottenham Hotspur.

A number of outlets over recent weeks have backed Spurs to move for a winger this summer, with Raphinha thought to be one of the names on the club’s wishlist.

The Telegraph claimed earlier this month that the Barca star and Juventus’ Samuel Iling-Junior as the two wingers who are on the Lilywhites’ radar.

Earlier this month the print edition of Mundo Deportivo (via Sport Witness) also backed up Tottenham’s interest in the former Leeds man, claiming that the player could end up back in the Premier League and is a ‘realistic’ target for Ange Postecoglou’s side.

The report added that Barcelona are ready to sell Raphinha for around €55m (£47.1m), however, it was explained that Spurs and the Catalan giants would have to convince the player, who wants to stay at the Camp Nou.

Liverpool have Raphinha on short-list as potential Salah replacement

Tavolieri has now taken to social media platform X to confirm that Liverpool have also set their sights on the Brazilian as they look to bolster their attack ahead of Arne Slot’s first season in charge.

The journalist suggested that the Merseysiders are expected to push ahead with an offer for Raphinha if Mohamed Salah departs Anfield this summer.

If Raphinha is put up for sale this summer (which seems likely given Barcelona‘s financial predicament), I would expect a number of Premier League sides to enter the race for the winger.

The 27-year-old would be a relatively risk-free addition for the English sides as he knows the Premier League quite well and is proven in the division having done well during his time with Leeds.
