Report: Liverpool could challenge Spurs in race for England international

The Daily Mirror have revealed that Liverpool could now enter the race to sign rumoured Tottenham target Marc Guehi.

It has been well documented over the last couple of months that Spurs are prioritising signing a centre-back in January, with various outlets revealing that Guehi is one of the names on their radar (GiveMeSport).

Just a couple of days ago, Sky Sports reported that the Crystal Palace star is one of three options at the top of Tottenham’s wishlist but the report explained that the Eagles are reluctant to let the player leave mid-season.

Spurs are expected to face plenty of competition for the 23-year-old’s services, with reports over the last week revealing that Man Utd (Football Insider) and Chelsea (TEAMtalk) also have their eye on the young defender.

Liverpool could now enter the race for Marc Guehi

The competition for Guehi’s signature looks set to intensify even further, with The Mirror now stating that Liverpool are also considering the move for the player.

The publication explains that with Joel Matip suffering an ACL injury last week, the Reds are keen to bolster their backline and that they rate the England international ‘highly’.

However, The Mirror backs up what we have heard from other sources by stating that Palace have no intention of letting Geuhi leave in January and could only be persuaded to do so next summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

There will likely be a major scramble for Guehi’s signature next summer and I would not be surprised if Tottenham get involved. However, if the 23-year-old impresses for England in the Euros, he could potentially be priced out of a move to Spurs.
