Report: Liverpool face more injury woes ahead of Tottenham’s trip to Anfield

According to a report from Football.London, Liverpool could be without as many as eight first-team stars for Tottenham’s trip to Anfield on December 16, with the Reds potentially being forced to field an inexperienced backline.

Tottenham’s 0-0 draw against Chelsea saw them climb back to the top of the table after Liverpool were held to a point against Brighton on Saturday.

Although Jose Mourinho’s side have the small matter of a North London Derby to worry about first, as well as a tough trip away to Crystal Palace, it is conceivable that they could be level on points with the Reds at the top of the table when they travel to Liverpool.

Football.London reveal that James Milner could potentially be out for the clash after picking up an injury against Brighton on Saturday.

With Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez already out with long-term injuries and Trent Alexander-Arnold also not expected to regain fitness in time for the match, the absence of the versatile Milner could be a major blow for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

The report suggests that Liverpool could line up with a back four of Neco Williams, Fabinho, Nathaniel Philips (if Joel Matip is not fit) and Andy Robertson.

That is potentially one area of the pitch Spurs could look to exploit given the form that Harry Kane and Son Heung-min are currently in.
