Report: Liverpool handed boost ahead of Spurs clash

According to Goal.com, Liverpool could potentially have a major injury boost ahead of their clash against Tottenham on Saturday with both Fabinho and Xherdan Shaqiri set to return to training this week

This raises the possibility that both players could be involved against Spurs on Saturday evening which could spell trouble for the Lilywhites.

Fabinho was one of Liverpool’s stand out players in the first few months of the campaign has been absent since sustaining ankle ligament damage in the Champions League draw at home to Napoli at the end of November, while Shaqiri has missed the games over the festive period with a muscle problem (the Mirror).

While Fabinho could start the game for Jurgen Klopp’s men, Shaqiri could be used as an impact substitute as he often has been for the Reds this season.

Meanwhile, Tottenham have several injury concerns with Hugo Lloris, Harry Kane and Ben Davies out with a long term injury while the likes of Tanguy Ndombele, Danny Rose and Moussa Sissoko were also unavailable for the FA Cup third round tie against Middlesbrough last weekend.

Spurs Web Opinion

If Liverpool weren’t already overwhelming favourites to beat Spurs on Saturday, then Fabinho’s return must surely make them that. The Brazilian has tended to dominate the midfield battle in almost every single match he is featured in. Unless Ndombele is back in time for the game, we will struggle to assert ourselves in midfield.
