Report: Liverpool have already held talks with Spurs target about January move

Foot Mercato have revealed that Liverpool have already held discussions with Tottenham target Sofyan Amarabat regarding a move to Anfield.

It is unsurprising to see that Amarabat is now being mooted as a target for many of Europe’s top clubs in light of the brilliant performances he has delivered at the World Cup.

The 26-year-old has won many admirers with his battling displays in Qatar and his best one of the tournament arguably came in the clash against Spain, with Morocco beating the Spaniards on penalties to book their place in the quarterfinal of the competition.

La Repubblica (28/11/22 via Viola News) reported two weeks ago that Tottenham could reignite their interest in the midfielder next month, having failed with a move for the former Club Brugge man in January of this year.

Corriere dello Sport (29/11/22 via SportWitness) subsequently claimed that Spurs could face competition from Liverpool for the Fiorentina man.

Foot Mercato have now reported that the Reds have already held talks with Amrabat’s representatives and that the discussions were ‘positive’. The report claims that Jurgen Klopp’s men will hold further discussions with the Moroccan at the end of the World Cup.

The publication suggests that Spurs and Inter Milan are also monitoring the Viola star’s situation ‘carefully’ while other English clubs can also pounce for the midfielder.

Foot Mercato add that while Amarabat’s current deal at the Artemio Franchi Stadium runs out in 2024, Fiorentina have the option of extending it by one more year.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is not surprising that Liverpool are seemingly keener on snapping up Amarabat than Spurs as the Reds are more in need of a number six. Unless Antonio Conte were to perhaps consider loading out or selling Oliver Skipp, I do not see why Spurs would need another midfielder of the Moroccan’s profile.
