Report: Liverpool in pole position to land £4m-valued Tottenham target

Liverpool are in pole position to sign Aberdeen defender Calvin Ramsay ahead of Tottenham, according to Football Scotland.

The 18-year-old enjoyed a promising season with the Dons, making 33 appearances across all competitions in his breakthrough campaign (Transfermarkt).

A host of clubs in England and across Europe have since taken notice of Ramsay’s displays in the Scottish Premiership.

The Press and Journal reported Tottenham were one of a number of Premier League clubs to send scouts to watch Ramsay in league action against Europa League finalists Rangers in January.

But it appears as if Liverpool have moved ahead of the pack to sign the Scotland Under-21 international with Football Scotland reporting the Reds are hopeful of sealing a £4 million deal.

It is stated that Ramsay is interested in joining the Premier League and Champions League runners-up, which would see him vow for a position with Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The report also notes Liverpool’s pursuit could end Spurs and Newcastle’s interest with the pair thought to have been tracking the teenager’s performances across the season.

Spurs Web Opinion

Ramsay seems to be one for the future and Liverpool have jumped ahead of every club in trying to strengthen their options at right-back and provide competition for Alexander-Arnold. He could have been a very handy option for Spurs, but realistically they need more ready-made options at present.
