Tottenham are now competing with Liverpool and Arsenal in the race for Middlesbrough defender Djed Spence, according to The Northern Echo.
Spencer, who is currently on loan at Nottingham Forest, has impressed during his stint in the Midlands and has become one of the Championship’s most sought after players.
A host of clubs in England and abroad tracked the 21-year-old throughout the January transfer window (Sky Sports) but no transfer materialised.
90min reported that Tottenham saw a late offer worth £12 million knocked back by Boro, who are keen on securing a higher fee down the line.
But The Northern Echo claims Spurs, who are alongside Arsenal with their interest, are now set to be joined by Liverpool at the table.
The report states that Spurs have placed Spence high up on their list of priorities this summer, but rivals Arsenal could push hard to secure his signature this summer.
Spence has made 31 appearances in all competitions this term, recording a pair of goals and assists each (Transfermarkt).

Spence’s performances in the last couple of seasons have rightly caused plenty of clubs to be drawn towards him. But with so many teams circling, it won’t be easy to secure him, despite the relatively modest fees bid thus far.
