Report: Liverpool looking to sign Spurs man before transfer deadline

The Independent has claimed that Liverpool have made contact with Spurs regarding a possible deal for Paulo Gazzaniga this week.

The Argentine was an important player for the Lilywhites last campaign as he filled in as the club’s number one for a few months while Hugo Lloris was out injured.

However, the former Southampton stopper, who moved to North London in 2017, has seemingly fallen down the pecking order at Spurs after the arrival of Joe Hart.

The England international has been getting the nod to start in some of Tottenham’s Europa League qualification matches this season over the Argentine.

The 28-year-old has been linked with a move to newly-promoted Fulham, who were said to on the lookout for a new number one (The Telegraph).

However, Liverpool have now emerged as shock contenders for Gazzaniga’s signature as The Independent claim that Jurgen Klopp wants to add a goalkeeper to his squad before the transfer window shuts.

The report suggests that Klopp was left unimpressed by Adrian’s display at Villa Park on Sunday and the Reds have identified the Spurs man as a possible understudy for Alisson Becker.

Spurs Web Opinion

After the amount we have spent this window, I would not be surprised if we cashed in on Gazzaniga if we were to receive a decent offer. However, that could potentially leave us in a spot of bother if either Lloris or Hart pick up a bad injury.
