Report: Liverpool move ahead of Spurs in midfielder race

Liverpool are favourites to land Norwich City midfielder Todd Cantwell in the summer ahead of Tottenham, according to reports.

Cantwell’s performances have been one of the few shining lights for Norwich amidst a poor season so far.

The Canaries find themselves rooted to the bottom of the table and are seven points off safety but that has not stopped Cantwell’s attacking quality from shining through.

The Daily Mail reported last month that Spurs were monitoring the 21-year-old who is said to be valued at £30 million by Norwich. It is suggested that Manchester City also hold an interest in the youngster.

The Athletic reports that Liverpool have stepped up their interest in Cantwell and have moved ahead of Spurs, Manchester City as well as Manchester United.

It is suggested that Jurgen Klopp is a big fan of the midfielder and is keen to take him to Anfield in the summer after he impressed during his performance against the Reds on Saturday.

Given the current going rate for young English talent, £30 million is pretty decent value for money for someone with Cantwell’s potential. However, it looks like we are likely to face a massive battle on our hands if we want to land him, with so many clubs reported to be keen on him.
