Report: Liverpool move ahead of Spurs in race for centre-back

Tottenham Hotspur have struggled in the centre of the defence for the vast majority of the current season, with Jose Mourinho rotating his options regularly.

The likes of Davinson Sanchez, Toby Alderweireld and Eric Dier have all been inconsistent for the Lilywhites this season, with the inexperienced Joe Rodon serving as the only shining light.

The Telegraph have now reported that Liverpool have moved ahead of Tottenham in the race for RB Leipzig centre-back, Ibrahima Konate ahead of the summer transfer window.

However, it is said that Spurs are a potential candidate to move for the promising defender’s signature at the end of the season.

Unfortunately, while the Telegraph state that Liverpool can move for the defender immediately, it is reported that Spurs must first sell some players, putting them on the back foot in the race.

Konate has now enjoyed four successful seasons in the heart of the RB Leipzig defence, despite still being just 21-years-old.
