Report: Liverpool sent scouts to watch Spurs-linked winger on Monday

According to Italian outlet Il Secolo XIX (as relayed by The Daily Express), scouts from Liverpool were in attendance at Sampdoria’s clash against AC Milan on Monday to run the rule over rumoured Tottenham target Mikkel Damsgaaard.

Damgaard has made quite an impression since his move to Italian football in the January of last year and the youngster became a household name thanks to his impressive displays at the European Championships this summer.

Spurs have been credited with an interest in the 21-year-old, with Sampdoria boss Roberto D’Aversa even admitting earlier this month that the player could leave the club before the transfer window shuts.

Sources from Italy suggested last week that the North London club could step up their interest in the winger, who was alleged to be valued at around €30m (£25.5m).

However, Il Secolo XIX have now revealed that Damsgaard is also on Liverpool’s radar, with the Reds sending scouts to watch the winger in action during Sampdoria’s 1-0 loss to Milan.

The report claims that Jurgen Klopp’s men ‘like’ the Denmark international but are currently not pushing ahead with a move for him and are instead watching what others do.

Based on the reports over the last couple of days, it is evident that Traore is the man Spurs are pushing to sing before the window slams shut. So, our pursuit of Damsgaard seems to be over at least until the January transfer window.
