Report: Liverpool set to turn attention to Spurs-linked player in January transfer window

Tottenham Hotspur could face competition from Liverpool in the January transfer window for the services of Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar.

ESPN claim that Liverpool are expected to sign a central defender when the window opens at the start of next year due to the absence of Virgil van Dijk.

The Dutch international underwent surgery on the knee injury which he sustained in the recent Merseyside against Everton with Jurgen Klopp refusing to put a timeframe on how long he will be without the services of the former Southampton player for (Liverpool official website).

Tottenham were heavily linked with a move for Skriniar during the summer window with the club’s technical performance director, Steve Hitchen having been reportedly spotted in Italy to discuss a deal with the Serie A giants (Gianluca Di Marzio).

A deal for the Slovakian failed to materialise with the North Londoners instead deciding to make a move for Swansea City’s Joe Rodon.
