Report: Liverpool transfer list three players, including Spurs-linked target

Liverpool have placed three players on the transfer list ahead of the January transfer window, with one in particular being linked with Tottenham Hotspur recently – Naby Keita.

According to CalcioMercato, Liverpool will offer up Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Nat Phillips in the next transfer window.

Both Keita and Oxlade-Chamberlain are out of contract next summer, so it appears the Merseyside club are trying to get whatever they can for the players before it’s too late.

With Jurgen Klopp’s men struggling in the Premier League this season after a string of defeats leave them in 9th place, it’s highly likely Liverpool will look to move on the players on the peripheries of their squad before adding to their roster.

90min reported last month that both Spurs and Arsenal could be tempted to make a move for Keita, who is currently recovering from a hamstring injury.

The Guinea international has not played for Liverpool since the Community Shield game at the start of the season (Transfermarkt) and it’s unlikely he will do enough in the next seven months to earn a new deal at Liverpool. Even when fit, the 27-year-old has struggled to establish himself in Klopp’s team.

It’s unknown at this stage just how much Liverpool would demand to let Keita go in January, but any deal would surely be a fraction of the reported £48 million they paid for the player back in 2018 (BBC Sport).

Spurs Web Opinion

I said it before when we were linked to Keita and I’ll say it again now, for all his quality, his injury record and the fact he has never quite settled in the Premier League does concern me. Personally, I’d rather us not spend a penny on a position we already have adequate cover for, and focus on our defence and attack instead in the January transfer window.
