Report: Liverpool up their bid for rumoured Tottenham target

Liverpool are reported to have entered the race to sign Sporting Lisbon’s Bruno Fernandes.

Correio da Manha claim that the Anfield outfit have made an offer of £40 million plus Rafael Camacho after previously seeing a straight £40 million bid rejected by the Portuguese side.

The 24-year-old has had a sensational season for Sporting, netting 32 goals in all competitions, a ridiculous tally for someone who isn’t a forward and has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur with the Telegraph previously reporting that his agent had met with officials from the Champions League finalists.

Manchester United were thought to be leading the race for Fernandes (The Mirror) but if reports are now to be believed, Liverpool could not hold the upper hand in the pursuit of the midfielder.

A report in The Express suggests that Reds’ bid could spark both United and Tottenham into action, both of whom have been busy with other targets this week.

Assuming that the deal for Ndombele goes through, Tottenham will need at least one other creative midfielder even if Eriksen stays at the club. However, if the Dane does end up staying then the Lilywhites likely won’t be able to afford to pay a huge transfer fee after going big for Ndombele.
