Report: Liverpool weigh up switch for striker said to be on Tottenham’s radar

Tottenham Hotspur will do battle with Liverpool on June 1st for the honour of being called the champions of Europe.

Both sides will meet in Madrid in the Champions League final, where Mauricio Pochettino’s side can lift the trophy for the first time in their history.

With the transfer window now open, both sides will also be looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the new campaign and could be set to rival one another for the signing of a free agent.

According to Metro, Liverpool are considering a move for striker Max Kruse who is out of contract at Werder Bremen as a potential replacement for Daniel Sturridge.

Kruse has also been linked with a switch to Tottenham Hotspur (Sky Germany), where the future of Fernando Llorente is uncertain after the club were said to have missed the deadline to take up a twelve month extension on the Spaniard’s contract (Sky Sports).

The 31-year-old scored nine times and provided seven assists in the Bundesliga this season.

Opinion

Tottenham certainly need help to share the goalscoring burden off Harry Kane’s shoulders and will find it difficult to attract some players who know they will see limited game time as an understudy to the England forward.

A move for Kruse on a free transfer would certainly be a risk worth taking.
