Report: Long-standing Spurs target expected to be out of their price range this summer

Tottenham Hotspur were heavily linked with a move for Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar last summer.

Gianluca Di Marzio claimed last August that Spurs had opened talks for Slovakian international and later published Sky Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has published of Tottenham’s transfer chief at the time, Steve Hitchen in Milan.

Inter were said to be demanding £55million his services, with Spurs in typical fashion were attempting to chip away at the fee which led to a move failing to materialise.

The Athletic claim that Spurs still have a long-standing interest in the 26-year-old, but is expected to be out of their price range.

Skriniar had an impressive season for Inter where he featured in 39 games across all competitions and helped the Italian giants to win the Serie A title (transfermarkt).

Time and time again, we try to do things on the cheap and end up losing the ability to sign top quality players. The prime example has to be where we tried to low-ball Aston Villa in 2018 for Jack Grealish, when we could have signed him for a reported £6million (The Sun).

Skriniar would have been a huge upgrade on Dier and Sanchez who once again showed last season they are still struggling to rid their game of costly, individual errors.
