Report: Luis Diaz may reject Spurs advances and wait for ‘more seductive’ PL rival

According to Portuguese publication Record, Porto winger Luis Diaz is set to reject Tottenham’s approach and hold out for a move to Liverpool instead.

Over the last few days, Tottenham have been heavily linked with a move for Diaz.

According to The Independent, Spurs believe they are close to striking an agreement with Porto for the winger, who has found the back of the net on 16 occasions in all competitions so far this campaign (Transfermarkt).

However, this has been contradicted by other sources (A Bola), who state that the Portuguese club would only be willing to let the 25-year-old leave if his €80m (£66.8m) release clause is met.

Record have now suggested Tottenham’s efforts to sign Diaz might be in vain, with the player himself not convinced that a move to North London would be the right next step for him.

It is asserted that the Colombian is expected to reject Spurs’ offer in order to wait for Liverpool to come calling in the future.

According to the report, Diaz views Liverpool as a ‘more seductive project’ and believes the Reds are ‘on another level’ compared to Antonio Conte’s men.

Spurs Web Opinion

At this moment in time, Liverpool are on a different level to us and most players would prefer to move to Anfield over the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

However, Jurgen Klopp’s men do not appear to be after Diaz this window. So, the offer from Spurs might be the only one on the table for the 25-year-old.

So, the winger might be tempted by the prospect of moving to the Premier League and potentially uniting with his compatriot Davinson Sanchez.
