Report: Madrid’s £60m move for Spurs transfer target could also impact potential player exit

Any hope that Tottenham Hotspur may still have harboured over signing Ajax’s Donny van de Beek could be about to end.

Spanish football journalist Marcelo Bechler has claimed that a transfer has already been agreed between Real Madrid and Ajax for the 22-year-old.

Bechler went as far as claiming that van de Beek has agreed a five or six-year contract along with personal terms and a deal could be announced in the coming days.

Translated into English, Bechler said: “In Marca and AS, news of Real Madrid’s interest in Ajax’s Dutchman Van de Beek comes out.

“From what I’ve learned, the thing goes further: there is already a proposal accepted by the Dutch club and player. Van de Beek should sign for 5 or 6 years in the next few days. Trading has been around for days.”

The Dutchman was also said to be on Tottenham’s radar during the summer transfer window after impressing last season which included him scoring a goal against Mauricio Pochettino’s side in the first leg of the Champions League semi final (The Sun).

The fee to bring the midfielder to the La Liga giants is said to be £60million and could also end any hopes of fellow playmaker Christian Eriksen making the move to Zinedine Zidane’s side.

Eriksen revealed soon after Tottenham’s Champions League final defeat to Liverpool in June that he wanted to leave the North London club to seek a fresh challenge whilst also inviting interest from Madrid (Ekstra Bladet).

However, the 27-year-old could now be faced with having to remain at Spurs with just under twelve months remaining on his current contract.
